Mindfulness in our Schools

The Mindfulness Curriculum for Bnos Yisroel is a yearlong curriculum that can be integrated in any classroom. It can be used across schools or by individual teachers. 

 

Schools involved in this curriculum can expect to receive the following:

  • Curriculum material following monthly topics:

    • September: Why Mindfulness?

    • October: Mindfulness of Sensations

    • November: Emes Mind

    • December: Mindfulness of Thoughts

    • January: Mindfulness of Feelings

    • February: Mindfulness of Movement

    • March: Mindfulness of Others

    • April: Mindfulness of Tasks

    • May: Integration Practices

    • June: Putting It All Together

  • Weekly 40-minute lessons, including teaching notes, handouts as needed, suggested scripts, suggested activities, suggested home practice, suggested daily practice

  • Guidebook including what is mindfulness, dealing with resistance, benefits for students, benefits for teachers, etc.

  • Email consultation as needed

  • Orientation for teachers (~2 hours)

  • Trainings for teachers (up to 3 sessions per academic year, 1-2 hours each)

  • Individual teacher consultation (up to 4 hours per month)

  • Google-site for teachers to write about experiences, brainstorm, troubleshoot, etc. and for resources

  • End of year wrap-up/feedback meeting

 

 

Teachers individually participating in this curriculum can expect to receive the following:

  • Curriculum material following monthly topics

  • Weekly 40-minute lessons, including teaching notes, handouts as needed, suggested scripts, suggested activities, suggested home practice, suggested daily practice

  • Guidebook including what is mindfulness, dealing with resistance, benefits for students, benefits for teachers, etc.

  • Orientation session at the start of the year and end of year wrapup meeting

  • Consultation by phone or email (up to 1 hour per month)
